Detailed Wikipedia Information

The Congo Tetra Tropical Aquarium Fish, Phenacogrammus interruptus, is a freshwater schooling characin, a type of fish popular in aquariums. They may grow to 100 millimetres and are suitable for a community aquarium. They are highly gregarious fish and should not be kept in groups of less than 4. The fish will eat high quality flake food and frozen foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp. A sparsely-planted tank is best, as they like to have plenty of room to swim. They are shy and timid fish, and can be sensitive to water quality, so frequent water changes are a must. Male Congo tetras have longer dorsal and caudal fins and are much brighter and more colorful than the females. Both sexes can be incredibly beautiful with strong lighting and dark substrate. Any aquarium of less than 20 gallons will not be suitable for these fish.

As with all Tetra there are some important considerations before Congo Tetra Tropical Aquarium Fishes should be introduced into your tank. First Tetra like soft water. If you have Hard Water you will need softener. Second is aggression. Tetra are very peaceful. They swim and school well, and will leave all other species alone. Some common predatory fish will go for Tetra when they wont go for fish that are even only slightly larger. Tetra should never be introduced into any tank containing an Oscar Cichlid, any Gourami, or any Red Finned or Bala Shark

Provided with adequate space to do so Congo Tetra Tropical Aquarium Fish will form brilliantly colorful schools around your tank. Also they will hover very eerily inside of any caves you provide them with.
